The year, 1997. The place, Mumbai. The country was just warming up to a revolution called Information Technology. Computers had suddenly became affordable and the internet promised to open up a world, hitherto unseen. It was a time of limitless possibilities. Overnight, technology became the “word-of-the-day†for millions. And everyone wanted their share of the pie. Interestingly it was a time that also created a huge lacuna for technology driven marketing.
A time when even the biggest corporate houses were seen scratching their heads and wondering how to cash in on this new wave called technology.
Vivek Bhargava (now our CEO, then just a fresher out of B-school with no music sense) warmed up to this challenge. While most of his colleagues went looking for cubicles, he took on a bigger role. His objective was simple. He wanted to help Indian corporates use technology to enhance their marketing effectiveness. Audacious? He didn't think so.
And sure enough, on a muggy morning in August 1997, Communicate 2 was born.
From the very inception, C2 was destined to go places. In our very initial years we had the fortune of working with exceptional clients like Pfizer, Merrill Lynch, MTV, Novartis, Godrej, Esselgroup, UTV, Parle Group etc. Add to that, a long list of dot com projects such as almari.com, indiawww.com, kagaz.com, facequest.com and our name had became synonymous with Interactive marketing.
